a letter
Dearest World,
I have no idea why the world is trying to teach people that if they aren't a size 2, then they shouldn't love their bodies.
And I don't know why so many people are unhappy with the way they look.
Sometimes I feel in the minority when I'm not angry with the way I look. Ususally, I am pretty happy with what I see when I look in the mirror. (After the make-up is on and the hair is done! ha) I feel that the world is trying to teach me to hate myself, when I actually love myself!
I may be conceited, and the you, World, may attack me, but I am me and I think I am a pretty special person. Sure, I am trying to make myself better everyday-physically and spiritually, but I do like where I am with myself right now. I am confident in me. So take that, World!
"Our Father in Heaven provides the perfect example of this principle. He sees our divine nature. We are His children. The way He sees us, because of His love for us, is perfect. The mirror which He holds constantly before us, if we only raise our sight to look, is the one in which we should trust. Its image is always true and never distorted. He reminds us, as He did to Moses, 'Thou art my son [or daughter]' (Moses 1:4)" --Elder Lynn G. Robbins of the Seventy
World, watch what you are teaching people. Young people, and even adults, are very impressionable. Teach people that they are beautiful. Because, guess what people, you ARE!
Love, Carolyn

I have been meaning to blog this...
A number of weeks ago, it was Brent's turn to say our family prayers. He said the sweetest thing. I am the luckiest girl in the entire world and I am reminded of that every. single. day. Anyways...this is the gist of what he said.
We are grateful that we are best friends and that we can enjoy each others company.
Isn't he just the best? We ARE best friends and I love spending time with my best friend. Speaking of spending time with him....I think it is time for Staples to let him come home to me. I misssss him!!

I have been sick.
And I hate being sick. Can someone please make this sickness go away? Friday I missed work because I felt so awful. I slept all. day. long. Seriously. I went to the dr and hoped that I had strep. Because then I could get some medicine and make my sickies all go away. But, no such luck. He told me, "You will have a rough weekend. Go home and eat some popsicles." Ugh. The mornings and evenings are the worst. My throat is all dry and hurts like a monster. Double ugh. I am crossing my fingers that I will feel better. I keep thinking that I kind of feel better so I do too much and then feel icky again. Lame.
Yeah, I am complaining. Sue me. :)

starting in September, you can call me Mrs. Hirz
That's right folks, I'm gonna have little people calling me Mrs. Hirz.
I got a job!!
I found out a couple of weeks ago that I will be employed by the Provo School District next school year. I didn't know for sure where until recently, so that's why I haven't blogged about it.
But.....here it is! I will be working at Amelia Elementary next year. It is in Provo and not too far from my casa. I am so excited!! I am also a little tiny bit nervous. But mostly excited! I was really stressed out because there were NO jobs this year for teachers. Everyone said that they weren't hiring and that I would be lucky to find anything. So when I interviewed and got a job, I was super stoked! I am having all sorts of ideas going through my head all of the time and I can't wait to get started on preparing for the upcoming year. I just want to set up my classroom right now! Is that too much to ask? I am so grateful for my education and the fact that I can have a job that I will LOVE and enjoy doing.
Since I got a job, Brent will be able to go to school full time. If he goes full time, he will probably be able to finish in a year which is SUPER exciting. I am so thankful that he was able to work so hard to let me finish school. I am SO proud of him. He is amazing and my very best friend. I am glad that I will get to finish putting him through school so he can finish. Brent is my hero.
